How my birding journey began

In my early 20s, living in a big city, I was always plugged in, except when I’d escape to the bush for the weekend. When I started listening to and watching the birds in my local parks and streets, it opened up this whole world.  I was still in the city, but I was connecting with nature everyday. I felt way more grounded and more connected to my home. I found a lot of peace and relief from bird watching, plus it opened me to all these opportunities to care for them; bush care, data collection, native gardening, supporting wildlife corridors. This gave me purpose and fulfilment. I want to share this sense of wonder, connection and care with my fellow nature lovers out there who are frazzled from Sydney’s daily stresses.

So I started Come Bird With Me, with the aim of helping more people connect with and appreciate nature in their local suburb.
